About the Desk
Insight Nexus started from a simple frustration: the news cycle treats defence, economics, politics, sport, health and education as six unrelated beats covered by six unrelated desks. In practice, a budget decision shapes a hospital's capacity, a coalition's arithmetic shapes a curriculum reform, and a selection committee's incentives aren't so different from a ministry's. This is one person's attempt to read all six as connected — and to write about them plainly, without pretending to a neutrality no single writer actually has.
Every dispatch here carries a point of view. Sources are named where possible, assumptions are stated rather than hidden, and corrections are posted openly rather than quietly edited away. If a piece changes your mind about something, or you think it gets something wrong, that's a conversation worth having — not a comment box to be managed.
